Nest Cam IQ Outdoor - Blue Ring - No power - Offline in app

Newly added Nest Cam IQ stopped working 8 days after initial setup. Has been working fine until yesterday. Camera shows up in Nest app, Google Home app, and Nest.com...but no video.

Unplugging and replugging the camera results in a blue ring for 2-3 seconds but the video never shows back up. I didn't even get around to mounting the camera outside. The camera has been plugged in under my home office desk since purchase.  An electrician will be here on Monday to add an outlet and mount the camera.

I've tried using a different Nest Cam IQ power brick and USB-C cable, but the camera does the same thing (lue ring for 2-3 seconds but the video never shows).
Thoughts, options, ideas to remedy?

Hi @JustJoe901!

Thanks for bringing your concern to our attention and posting it in the community. I apologize for the inconvenience your Nest Camera IQ Outdoor may be causing by showing back up.

I understand that your camera is having issues when powering up properly, shows just a blue light for a couple of  seconds and you are not able to show back up.

Before we proceed, I'd like to confirm a few things:

  • Are you using the original cable that was shipped with the camera?
  • Is the end of the cable with the rubber ring plugged in to the camera?
  • Is the cable fully and securely plugged in to both the camera and the adapter?
  • Are there any kinks or frays in the cable?

Once we have this information, we can determine the best steps to get your device working as expected.

Thanks,

Catheryn.

  • Are there any kinks or frays in the cable? No.  I also tried an additional original cable and Nest power brick from another functional camera.

Hi @JustJoe901!

Thanks for your reply and the additional information.

Please, let's try the following steps:

  • Move the camera and plug it into a different working outlet.
  • Verify the outlet isn't controlled by a light switch.
  • Plug another known working device into the outlet the camera is currently connected to.
  • Make sure the USB cable is securely plugged into the camera's port. Check the camera port, power cable, and adapter for a snug fit.
  • Does the USB cable feel loose or fall out? If so, use an alternate USB cable.
  • The alternate cable may feel slightly loose but shouldn't fall out. You should feel some resistance when removing it.
  • If the camera still won't power on with any suitable USB cable and power adapter, the issue is likely with the camera's USB port.

Keep me updated.

Thanks,

Catheryn.
