I have 4 Outdoor Nest Cameras, 2 of the older Nest Cam Outdoors (purchased together in a 2 pack) and 2 of the Nest Cam IQ Outdoors cameras.
The 2 Nest Cam Outdoors have been fine but while doing some yard work today I noticed the cable connected to the camera unit (the non-replaceable one) has corroded badly. The jacket is brittle and completely falling off, exposing the wires. Oddly enough it is the side that lays against the fence that is worse for the wear vs the side that is in sunlight. I have never used any cleaners on or near the cables and they are attached to the fence securely with clips so there is no movement in wind / etc.
Are these outdoor cables really so poor they do this after a bit of use? I have an extension cable next to one of the cameras for the same duration and it has weathered fine.
Any suggestion / direction / etc would be helpful. I need to go inspect the IQ camera cables now but is there any recommendation on maintaining these cables so this doesn't happen to the newer cameras?
