Nest Cam wired (2nd gen) will not reconnect

MNdave

I've uninstalled from home and unplugged many times.

But the white light comes on briefly and then turns green.

Setup in Home continually fails, just tells me that something went wrong.

I did have the camera working for a few days but changed my wifi password and uninstalled.

Any suggestions???

If you changed your Wi-Fi password, then, in addition to removing your camera from the Google Home app, you may need to do a manual "factory reset". (Just today, another customer in this forum had to do that to get their battery camera connected to a new Wi-Fi network: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Battery-Nest-Cam-getting-it-to-connect-....) The manual "factory reset" instructions call for pressing the reset pin/button for at least 12 seconds, until the status light blinks yellow 4 times after 10 seconds and you hear a countdown tone, and then at 12 seconds the status light is a steady solid yellow and you hear a confirmation tone:

2nd gen doesn’t have a reset button, does it? I see nothing have heard that the unplugging is the reset.

See the other thread and the instructions in my links. The instructions differentiate between a restart and a factory reset for each camera.

as stated before, unplug doesn’t seem to work. Or did I miss something?

@MNdave

Unplugging is just a simple reboot. See the link for factory reset instructions, which I also summarized earlier.

I’ve read numerous times and cannot find the mysterious reset button.

@MNdave

It is small and can be hard to find,

"Locate the reset hole on the bottom of the camera head. It’s between the power cord and the camera neck. Insert a paper clip, thumbtack or similar into the hole. Press and hold down..."

Bingo! Sorry, didn’t know the base could twist out of the way to reveal the hidden reset. Worked like a charm.
