Nest Cams (Hub Cam & Outdoor Battery Cams) will not Connect to Assisting Nest Device

"Can't connect to assisting device"

This is the error message I keep receiving, when trying to set up my brand new Google Hub Max cam as well as my both of my Google Nest outdoor (battery) cams.

Had no issue setting up Google Wireless Doorbell and having it sync to my Google Home app (used on iOS), or any issue with initial setup of Google Hub Max.

However, connecting the Google Hub Max cam and Google Nest outdoor (battery) cams will not work. I am consistently unable to get past the "Can't connect to assisting device" error message.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Google Hub Max, but that hasn't worked.

Can someone please help, offer any advice on further actionable steps to resolve? Please and Thank You.

This solution worked for me as well. Same problem here. I bought 2 nest cams and a doorbell. Couldn’t install anything past the first camera.

I removed the camera from the Google Home app, installed the doorbell properly, then came back to re-install the camera.

you will still briefly see the “connecting to an assisting device” screen, but it freezes and jumps to the following one and everything works fine.

I left both charging now. God knows what’s going to happen tomorrow when I try to install the second camera.

I am having the same issue. I purchased the google nest hub max and a nest cam (indoor/outdoor battery).  I am only able to listen and speak through the nest cam using my nest hub max. I am not able to see any video from my nest cam on the nest hub max. The main reason for my nest hub max purchase was to be able the see who is at my front door!  I checked back at the advertising for the nest cam (battery) and in the ad it shows that you can see video from the nest cam (battery) on the nest hub max. I demand this service as that is what I was expecting from my purchase.
