Nest Doorbell (1st Gen) Peeling

Just wanted to voice my displeasure with the Nest Hello Doorbell and it's peeling issues. I've started at my doorbell peeling for just under a year now and all this time I thought I forgot to remove some piece of removable protective film shipped fromf the factory that I forgot to pull off. Now I realize that this is a common problem plaguing many users of this product judging from other posts.

My doorbell is now well out of warranty so I suppose nothing can be done now. I've already invested in several Nest products but these poor issues will definitely dissuade me from purchasing more in the future.

Two of our three Nest Hello Doorbells are now peeling. We bought silicone skins on Amazon to cover the peeling shards. And we've turned off the "Indoor chime" option on all three, and now depend on "Visitor announcements" on our Nest Hubs, because otherwise they go offline for a minute whenever the doorbell button is pressed, due to failure of the internal battery.

That indoor chime issue sounds even worse than the peeling!

Yes,  many of us users have been commenting on this issue.  I got my replaced a few years ago when it was still under warranty.  The replacement I got has now been peeling as well.  Even though it looks ugly I very happy with everything else with the doorbell so I just live with it.

Ultimately I'll just have to live with it too until the unit inevitably dies. Just putting another data point out there for anyone reading up on Nest products.

I don't think you talked about the chime sound in your original post.  What is wrong with it?   Are you talking about the chime that comes out of the phone when someone pushes the button or do you mean the physical DOOR CHIME on the wall in the house?

I don't have a chime issue. That was in response to MplsCustomer.
