Nest Doorbell (Battery) Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi

Hi all,

I recently bought several Google Home / Nest products and I am having trouble configuring the Nest Doorbell (Battery). No Matter what I try, I can't connect it to Wi-Fi.

Things I have tried:

  • Wi-Fi/Network: Enabled/Disabled 5GHz, turned off "Fast Roaming" (using TP-Link Deco's), set up a guest network on the 2.4GHz band.

  • iPhone: Started setup on my iPhone 16 Pro Max (main phone), resulting in "Cannot connect to Wi-Fi" error (0.80). Tried airplane mode, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi toggles.

  • Android Phone: Same setup, resulting in "The network has no internet connection" error. Tried airplane mode, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi toggles.

  • Wife's iPhone 16 Pro: Same setup, same error.

  • New Doorbell: Swapped the doorbell at the store for a new one, but encountered the same error.

One thing I noticed is that the error messages are different on Android and iOS.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be happening? I'm considering returning everything and switching to Amazon's ecosystem, as this has been very frustrating.

Hi MirwaisF,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry that you're experiencing trouble connecting your Nest Battery Doorbell. I appreciate the effort to troubleshoot this concern. I understand how frustrating this can be. I can help you with this situation.

For further assistance. I need to ask a few questions:

  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  • What’s the color of the LED status light of your Nest Battery Doorbell?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the Nest Battery Doorbell you want to pair?

Important: During the process of setting up the Nest Battery Doorbell, it should be connected with the power supply cord. Keep it connected until the setup is finished.

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron

My doorbell light is blue, it is about 8 feet from the router, nothing blocking it, no other devices near it. It says it cannot be connected something went wrong try again. I did all of the same things, as the person above. I’m royally frustrated 😢

Hi Kathyb,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize that you're encountering the same situation previously reported. I understand this can be frustrating. I appreciate the effort to troubleshoot this concern. Let's work together to find a solution.

Based on your insights, please try the following:

On iOS devices with iOS 14 or later, ensure that Local Network Access is enabled for the Google Home app. Here are the steps:

  1. On the iOS device's home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy & Security and then Local Network.
  3. On the app list, turn on Local Network Access for the Google Home app.

Additionally, please restart your modem/router and your Nest Doorbell. Here is an article to restart your Nest Doorbell.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron

I ended up returning everything. I managed to connect all the other devices (floodlight + camera combo, indoor camera, Google Hub, Google Home Minis), but this doorbell simply would not connect. So I had to return all the other products as well (can't have a half working eco system at home). The store clerk mentioned that I was the fourth customer that month to return the doorbell.

@Kathyb I hope you have better luck 😥
