Nest Doorbell Battery won't factory reset

My doorbell and working fine, but then a couple days after a power outage, I noticed the camera was offline and couldn't reconnect even though battery was over 70% and it was hardwired to the electrical. I tried rebooting the doorbell as well as my internet modem and router. I still couldn't get it to connect, so I deleted the device in the Google Home app to try setting it up again from scratch.  However, when I try to connect it eventually fails to connect every time. I've tried it with the doorbell unplugged as well as plugged in inside (after hours to be sure it is fully charged). I've tried putting my phone in airplane mode per the instructions, and it doesn't help. I've tried to do a factory reset, but no matter how long i hold the button a yellow light never comes.  Instead the green light inevitably turns on like the camera is on.  I can't factory reset, and I can't get the device set up to get it back into my home in the app.  What can I try next before I throw this in the garbage and go back to a regular doorbell? For context, the video on my nest hub max is working fine.

Hey EazyE,

Here's the guide on how to reset the Nest Doorbell (wired) to its default settings.

  1. With a release tool that comes with the box, disconnect the doorbell from the base. Insert the tool into the hole at the bottom of Nest Doorbell (wired), and pull it off the base. You may also use a thumbtack or paper clip.

Note: At this point, do not to disconnect the wires from the doorbell.
  2. Press and hold the 2 following buttons on the doorbell for about 10 seconds:
  • Near the top of doorbell, insert the release tool, thumbtack, or paper clip into the hole (reset button) on the back.
  • At the front of the doorbell, simultaneously press and hold the doorbell button.

        3. The doorbell chimes, and its light ring starts to spin blue, then flash yellow, and then all the lights turns off. Once all the sounds and lights turn off, release both buttons.

        4. To indicate the reset process is complete, there's a chime sound, and the ring pulses blue.

        5. At this point, the doorbell shows Offline on the Nest app.

  • To make use of the doorbell again, you have to remove it from the account and re-pair it. If you want to sells, transfers, or returns the doorbell, you need to remove it from the account. Then, uninstall the doorbell, and remove the wires, backplate, and chime connector. Then, you can reinstall the previous doorbell.
  • To remove the doorbell from the app: Go to the app's home screen and tap the Nest Doorbell (wired).

         6. Tap Settings Settings.

         7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Remove camera, and then confirm.

  • You'll get a confirmation email from Nest to let you know that the doorbell is removed from your account.
  • If you plan to give the doorbell to someone else, they don't need to do any action.
  • If you want to reconnect the doorbell to the app, ask them to go through setup again.

Let me know how it goes by replying to this thread.

Thanks,

Archie
