Nest Doorbell Constant Ringing When Camera is On

John94

I installed the Nest Doorbell wired about a week ago and it was working fine. Recently my doorbell chime has had a constant slight ringing. I found that this ringing stopped when I turned off the camera for the doorbell. Any thoughts on what this issue could be? I feel like if this were a wiring issue, the problem would have started right away.

Update: After several hours of having the camera turned off, but the rest of the doorbell operational, I turned it back on and the issue was resolved. Any thoughts on what the issue might be to prevent this from happening again?

This problem happens sporadically throughout the day. This problem will happen for a while then go away, and then come back again. Does anyone have any idea what the cause could be?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. It almost sounds like your chime connector may have had too much power, or something along those lines. If it is going away with a restart though, that is good as it may just be software related that seems to have fixed itself.

Best regards,
Brad

To clarify this issue still persists. It just comes and goes seemingly at random. If I turn off the camera the issue goes away. Sometimes if I wait a while and turn the camera back on it stops, other times it doesn't. But the issue always seems to come back at some point.

With it being an intermittent concern, have you verified that the wiring is still correct, and working properly? I would suggest checking out the transformer, and chime connector to see if they may be malfunctioning. It sounds to me, like it may be a power issue of some sort. I would also suggest reaching out to support by filling out this form. They can help troubleshoot this further with you, and look at other options for you during that time.

Best regards,

Brad

Thanks Brad. I filled out the form you attached in your answer. I will verify the wiring again. If I have a multimeter available would you recommend I check voltage at the transformer or the doorbell itself?
