Hi,
I have a Nest Doorbell (wired gen 2) paired with a Google Home Speaker, pairing which works fine in terms of notifications(visitor alert) being received on the Home Speaker and also on my Android phone.
Recently I bought a Samsung Q800D Soundbar which is marketed as "works with Google Home", phrase which I have a hard time understanding, thus asking the following questions:
1. Since the Home Speaker was placed in the same room/place as the new soundbar would take, I had the Home Speaker unplugged then I tried registering the soundbar with the Samsung SmartThings app, then adding the SmartThings service in Google Home application. This worked fine, but it only allows me to control the soundbar from the Google Home app, rather than replacing any of the Home Speaker functionality. I guess I misunderstood the works with Google Home" term, and that only applies if I also keep the Home Speaker and add the soundbar to the mix. Soundbar won't be able to respond to "Hey Google" commands, huh?
2. Doorbell and Soundbar in the Google Home application doesn't seem to allow the Doorbell's visitor notifications to be sent to the Soundbar at all. I guess that needs the Google Speaker in between? Or would that not work at all?
Thanks!!

Hi @ndalecs,
Thanks so much for reaching out to this community! I understand what's happening with the two questions you have about your new Samsung Q800D soundbar and your Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen), and I'm happy to help you with this!
In this case, with the soundbar, you can use the Google Home app, but as you mentioned, it's only to control the Samsung Q800D soundbar. If this device is added as a Home Speaker, it won't respond to commands directly.
Regarding your Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen), it won't accept doorbell notifications even if it integrates correctly because the Samsung Q800D soundbar itself doesn't have a built-in assistant, and this option is only available for Google Nest or Home speakers and displays.
Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.
Best regards,
Eduardo
