Nest Doorbell Peeling

Has anyone else had their Nest doorbell begin to peel outside of the warranty period? It almost looks like a plastic sticker that has dried and cracked. Maybe it has shrunk over time. I opened a chat with support and they have me a ticket number but offered no help. The support case ID is 4-5829000032242. does anyone know a DIY fix for this problem?

Does anyone know if Ring has this issue? I wonder if I’m better off switching brands as the nest doorbell hasn’t been updated since I purchased this one. It doesn’t seem reasonable to expect anything other than failure again outside of the warranty period.

Hi Leemer,

We understand where you’re coming from. However, we won’t be able to process a return for your device since this is already out of warranty. You can reach our Google Nest Support team for further assistance.

We’ll be here if there’s anything else.

Regards,

Steve

Since many have experienced this same defect, and Google is not willing to repair or replace the defective item, can you at least tell me if the defect has been fixed for newer units? If I buy another one will I have the same problem soon after the warranty expires?

@Leemer

This peeling issue is not present with the 2021 Nest Doorbell (battery) and is only an issue with the previous model. I apologize that you are having this issue, and that your warranty is expired! I wish there was more we could do for you, but there isn't if it is not under warranty.

Best regards,

Brad.

So the hard wired product has not been fixed? This defect continues, is that what you just said? I have no interest installing a battery unit when my doorbell is hard wired. That’s a negative impact on the environment no customer should be expected to make.
