Nest Doorbell (battery) goes "Unmounted" when charging

I've had this Nest Doorbell (battery) for a year or so, and always had battery life issues with it (not the issue I'm writing about), so decided to convert it to an indoor camera.  Not wanting to mount it, and having said battery life issues, I thought it'd be a cinch to run plugged in.  I took the steps seen elsewhere recommending placing a strong magnet near the mount sensor, which works like a charm!  The camera works wonderfully without the mount now just liked I'd hoped... until I plug it in.  Reliably, repeatedly, and consistently, when I plug in the charger, the camera goes from Live to Unmounted.

If this is a "feature," it ranks right up there with the mount sensor.  Is there a way around this?  I just want to plug the darned thing in and have it work.

@DanielF

You can WIRE your battery doorbell to a regular doorbell transformer or to Google Nest's indoor power adapter (https://store.google.com/product/s2dio_indoor_power_adapter_wired_battery?hl=en-US).  It sounds like you instead are trying to plug it into some unspecified "strong battery" by plugging a cable into the doorbell's charging port. But the doorbell is not designed to be used while it is plugged in for charging.

@MplsCustomer

I'm using the charging cable that came with the doorbell.  No "strong battery" or other shenanigans (other than the mount sensor/magnet trick mentioned in OP) involved.

For clarity, this is a BATTERY Doorbell, which I'd like to operate as a camera while it is charging, using the equipment that shipped with the Doorbell itself.

@DanielF

Yes, I understand you have a battery doorbell.

I didn't realize you were using a "strong battery" to trick the doorbell's sensor into thinking it was mounted. Sorry.

I suspect that the battery doorbell is simply not designed to be "Live" when it is plugged in for charging.  Google Nest doesn't explicitly say so anywhere, but customers would normally dismount their doorbell to charge it, so I think Google Nest would see no reason for it to be "Live" when it is plugged in to be charged.  And I think the trickle-charging that occurs when the battery doorbell is wired is different; for that, the doorbell's camera is specifically designed to be "Live".

I'm just another Google Nest customer, and that's just my take on it.

Thanks for the reply, @MplsCustomer .  I see now where you got the "strong battery" language, which had me terribly confused -- a typo on my part!  I meant to say "strong magnet," which I've affixed near the charge port.  No strong batteries to be found lol.  This trick is meant to fool the doorbell into believing it is mounted, thus allowing it to operate without the rest of the rig.

Appreciate your responses and hypothesis about the design.  I am worried you're right, and would love to hear if others have more insight.
