Hi, I have wired the battery doorbell to an AC adapter thinking it would charge and keep the battery @ 100%. However, when I access the Home app, it says its plugged in - sometimes there's an infinity sign but most of the time there's a battery percentage. I charged the doorbell to 100% before connecting to a wired connection, and two days later its showing 74% with the message "frequent event recording can drain this device's battery even while it's plugged in".
The AC adapter I am using is 18v 500mA output from Amazon:
Surely it shouldn't be using the battery when plugged in!? If there's a power outage, then the rechargeable battery kicks in from 100%? Is the AC adapter output too low?

Maybe it's your third-party adapter. Ours always says "Plugged in" and never shows a percentage, and Battery Usage says "Custom", using the 10 meter power cable from Google.

It appears your AC Adapter voltage might be to low as it needs to be 24 volts. Refer to the below link that goes into more detail on the requirements depending if you are in Europe or America.

Many thanks for your reply.
The link states 8 to 24v. The adapter I have is 18v. Do you have a link to a specific ac adapter that works?

Appoligies you are correct and wish I could recommend you an alternative. Upon further testing with a replacement doorbell that I received from Google today, I am in the same boat with both my previous and replacement doorbell also draining when mains powered.
Only charged the replacement today and already down to 95% even though I also have the infinity symbol and says plugged in.
My previous one I charged 3 times since it was installed on 25th August while being mains powered.
There is definitely something wrong and I will keep looking into this and will try another transformer that I have tomorrow and will let you know if I have any luck with it.

I have ordered a 24v AC transformer and I will see if this helps. I will keep you posted.

I have tried another 24v, 15VA transformer and even tried a resistor with it incase this was causing the issue. The battery is still not charging, however I will monitor the percentage and see if it drops over time or even better hopefully start charging.
Link to an image of how I have wired it so far.
Fingers crossed for you and I hope your replacement works.

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.
Do you still need help with this issue?
What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?
Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?
If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks for your response.
I can confirm I am still having issues with my Google Nest Doorbell battery still draining when connected to the mains.
I have spoken to your support team over the phone and have raised a support ticket.
I have tried all of the above you mentioned with the phone support team and also checked my wiring.
Support also sent me a replacement Doorbell that I received on Saturday and my doorbell even though is wired now down to 76% and has the same issues as my original doorbell.
Please can you advise if this is a design flaw were the battery is still used while wired, software bug or something else.
If this continues to be an issue I may have to return the doorbell.

Yes I am still having the issue of not charging and draining, likewise with Lee765.
I have tried another 18v AC adapter but still the same issue. It's now done to 34%.
I have tried a factory reset but still drains.
I have not asked for a replacement yet, when I checked via my Google account I have gone past the 14 day period.
Also what I have noticed is whenever I go into the home app and see the live feed, it appears and after 3 secs or so, it buffers, tries to reconnect and then it says the camera is unreachable. I tried again and same thing happens after around 3 secs.
Your help would be much appreciated.
