Nest Doorbell gen 2 wired shows as offline on iphone app

Hi!  I just installed my first Nest Wired Doorbell Gen 2.  The install went smoothly, or so I thought.  Doorbell seems to work - I have a green status light; the door chime rings when the doorbell is pressed and I get notifications when someone rings the doorbell or it sees a person coming toward the camera.  However, when I go into the app, it shows that the camera is offline.  When I try to connect via the app it just spins and eventually I get a message that says problem connecting - try again - and no success after trying again or get a screen that says camera Unavailable or offline, even though the status light is green.   When I looked at the history on the app, it did show all of the activities that occurred today (person detected, doorbell ring, etc) but didn't show the camera photos.  I updated the app from the app store just before doing the install, so I should have current app.  I don't have full functionality of the doorbell - can't talk to the person since I can't access through the app and can't really view the history.  Any thoughts???

Hi folks,

Thanks for trying and sharing your experience with us. Older versions of iOS may slow down the overall functionality of your Home app. Sounds like a plan! Keep us posted.

I appreciate the help here, Brad.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this, and I would love to look into this further for you. Are you trying to view the activity on the Google home app? If so, have you tried to restart your camera itself? I would also check and make sure to check the Google home web app on a computer to see if you can view that information as well. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Brad

Thanks for checking in.  I am using the Google Home App on my iphone 7.  I will try to restart the camera tomorrow.  Interestingly enough, I have had some success in actually viewing the camera on my phone today.  I have had a number of times where it did make the connection and I was able to view the live camera as well as history that was captured.  I was also able to activate the voice.  But it still is intermittent.  Would you expect that an older version of the iphone would be the source of the problems?  I also did share the device with my husband on his iphone 7 and it seemed to be much more consistent in getting access to the camera although not 100%.  I'll work on your suggestions soon.  Thanks again.

I am continuing to work on resolution.  As of right now, the camera restart did not change anything.  I looked at the Google Home App, but as far as I could tell, that was still in a trial/test mode and was not available for the Next 2nd gen wired doorbell, so I gave up on that.  At this point in time, it seems most likely that the issue is with the older version of the iOS.  I am currently on iOS v 14.7, so my next step is to work on getting that updated to 15.7.  Unfortunately, I am very low on space so I need to do some work to do the iOS update.  Will be moving forward on that and will report back.  Thanks everyone.
