Hello! I just purchased my Nest doorbell and it does everything perfectly except record anything during the night. I have no information between the hours of 12-6am. The home away is not activated. Any help?

The Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) only captures and records events it detects. Further, since it is running in "Idle" mode all the time, customers in this forum report that it doesn't always wake up in time to detect and record an event.
Our wired Google Nest cameras only detect and flag events at night if someone walks or drives right up to them. Our front door doorbell, for example, almost never detects the newspaper carrier throwing the newspaper on our front steps (they never come close and the newspaper flying through the air is not enough to be detected as an event at night), though I CAN find the event if I scroll through the timeline.
Is it possible there just are no events occurring between midnight and 6 am that are significant enough to wake up your doorbell's camera and record it as an event?

I have scrolled back through to see any events and it says “no events detected”. During the day I am able to see when a car drives by on the street, but there is absolutely nothing recorded at night. So it’s possible the sensitivity at night isn’t as high? I did just adjust it to be more sensitive. Hopefully that helps. We have had a lot of action in my neighborhood lately, which is the reason I bought the doorbell, and I want to make sure I catch anything that occurs.
Thanks for your help!

All of our Google Nest cameras are less sensitive at night. For example, sometimes the camera over our garage door does not flag our car driving into the garage at night as an "event", though we can find it by scrolling through the 24/7 history. It's in the history, but not flagged as an "event".
Further, the battery-powered cameras do not perform nearly as well as detecting events when running on battery power, even in the daytime. We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for a year, plugged in all the time with the optional power cable. When it is plugged in, it performs just fine during the day, but is less sensitive at night. However, if I turn off the circuit for the camera and walk right in front of it during the day, it does NOT come out of "Idle" mode and record the event. I think I'd have to jump up and down a bunch before it woke up and recorded the event. So I'm thankful we got the optional power cable.
I'm just suggesting that the combination of less sensitivity at night, combined with the fact that the battery doorbell is always in "Idle" mode because it's always running on battery power (even when it is wired) and the fact that the battery doorbell only records events it detects, might explain why you're not seeing events recorded at night.

That makes sense. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question!
