Nest Doorbell (wired) gen 2 - NO DOORBELL PRIOR

General question to anyone, please.   Want to verify before I purchase of Nest Doorbell gen 2 wired.  I have NO exisiting doorbell.  I want to have a doorbell that announces on my echo devices and my phone.  Nest Doorbell wired gen 2 WILL work for me, right?   Of course using their suggested adapter, I just install the doorbell, wire the adapter to the doorbell and plug into power.  Is this correct?

Hi @ukeplayerpv,

Thanks for posting! I understand you're looking to confirm the compatibility and installation for the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen.), especially since you don't have existing wiring and want announcements on your Echo devices and phone. I can definitely help clarify all of this for you!

The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) is indeed compatible for announcements on your Echo devices! You'll enable the announcements in the Google Home app and then continue the setup in the Amazon Alexa app. Please refer to our Help Center article on controlling Google Nest products with Amazon Alexa for detailed steps.

Please keep in mind that while your Nest Doorbell can announce on Echo devices, your phone will receive standard notifications through the Google Home app for doorbell presses and motion, rather than audible announcements.

Regarding the installation process and the power adapter you mentioned: Since you don't have existing doorbell wiring, the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) includes a power adapter, as you noted. You'll simply install the doorbell, connect the adapter, and plug it into a standard indoor power outlet. To make this process a little bit easier for you, let me share a video about How to Set Up and Install Your Google Nest Doorbell (Wired).

I hope this helps confirm everything for you! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Debora
