Nest Doorbell (wired) will not connect to Nest thermostat (assisting device for Wifi)

Hi all,

My Nest Hello (wired) worked fine for a year or so. Then, after a delayed power outage, it failed to come back online. I managed to get it charged back up with a USB power source, then, after it didn't show up in my Nest app, I removed it and added it again. The doorbell is on and my app sees it, but I've hit a snag that seems all too common with these devices.

In setup, it's trying to connect to my Nest thermostat to set up wifi, but it's simply not working. I've tried all the common answers: Doing a factory reset on the Nest Hello, restarting my modem, routers and Wifi, deleting and reinstalling my Nest app, forcing my router to forget my device connection info, putting my Nest Hello right next to my thermostat for a better connection...nothing works! Error codes are constantly NC013 and NC014.

I didn't have this problem before because I purchased and installed my Nest Hello before my thermostat. Why does Google insist we use other Nest devices to do something as simple as set up a wifi connection?

The only option I haven't tried yet is setting up a new Home in the Nest app. I read that someone managed to get their doorbell to work by creating a new "Home" (thus bypassing the need to connect to an assisting device), but now his thermostat won't connect.

Any advice aside from getting a Ring instead?

I had this once. I removed the Thermostat from the app so that when the camera went through set up, it had no other “assisting” devices to connect to. Once the camera was running, I added back the thermostat.

Hmmmmm, is there any chance you have more than one gmail account and you are using the wrong one to sign into the NEST app?

Also, make sure Bluetooth is activated on your phone.

I have a similar situation after an extended power outage my Nest Hello (wired) wont connect, have tried all the reset from Google troubleshooting and nothing.  Doorbell works when connected to USB power but that seems to be it.
