Nest Doorbell wired

My nest doorbell no longer rings the chime when the chimepuck is installed.  It works fine with the chime puck uninstalled. But the plunger on the doorbell chime vibrates/hums.   The camera works fine either way.  I had an electrician come out and voltage is good.  I had google send me a brand new doorbell as it’s under warranty.  Brand new doorbell and Chime puck do the same thing.

anyone else have this issue?

what truly is the chimepuck for?

@Rweiche1

Per Google Nest, the "chime puck" is supposed to provide continuous power to your doorbell without tripping your doorbell chime, which might explain why your doorbell chime vibrates and hums when your "chime puck" is not installed.

A few customers in this forum have reported defective "chime pucks", but if you replaced yours, that is probably ruled out as the cause.

Numerous customers in this forum, including us, have reported upgrading to a 16V 30VA transformer in order to get the older Google Nest Hello Doorbell (we have 3) and the newer 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell to work correctly, even though Google Nest's stated requirements are less than this (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247132).

Hey Rweiche1,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out.

A few questions: What type of Nest doorbell do you have? How many Nest doorbell devices do you have? Also, how many chimes are connected? What is the transformer’s voltage and power rating?

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance
