Nest IQ Outdoor Loses Wifi Connection and Overheating

My camera is about 2 years old and the last couple of weeks it loses the wifi connection and the camera seems hot.  It's under a covered patio, but does get sun on it until the afternoon.  I brought it inside to see if that would help, but as soon as it connects to the wifi it disconnects after a minute and the back seems warm.  Could it have overheated and it's dying?

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

  • If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad -  I have done everything except for maybe a Factory Reset.  If a Factory Reset is deleting it from my account and re-adding it, then yes.  I left it sit in my office unplugged overnight and within a few minutes of it being plugged back in, the back of the camera is warm to the touch, which I'm not sure if that is normal.  I get it to reconnect to the wifi and then the camera stops working and it's lost the connection, which again I brought the camera inside, into my office where my main computer is, to get the strongest wifi connection.  The camera sits on the floor now completely disconnected and unplugged since it's not working - the most expensive camera in my system (I have 5 other cameras and the doorbell) and it's totally worthless.
