Nest Outdoor Cam Wired Wi-Fi Drops

Dbarry93

Hi,

Does anyone else experience Wi-Fi connection dropping regularly?

I’d say approx. 7-10 times per day I will get a notification saying camera offline and when Inopen the app, it says check internet connection.

No other device in the house goes offline. Router is within 15 feet of the camera approx. Tried using a booster and no use. As I said, no other device I have drops like this.

Thanks

Dave

@Dbarry93

I'm just another Google Nest customer who has several Google Nest Outdoor Cameras for years; our cameras very rarely ever go offline. I think there may be at least 4 possibilities in your case:

1) Poor Wi-Fi signal strength at your camera's location.

2) Some sort of interference with the Wi-Fi signal at your camera's location.

3) Something unusual in your Wi-Fi settings.

3) A defective camera.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely not the Wi-Fi, I have a lot of connected devices in the house and none of the others drop, including other Google devices, even the Nest Doorbell!

I think it may be a defective camera. Is there a warranty with the cameras?

Thanks,

Dave

@Dbarry93

The warranty depends on your camera and country, etc., but it's generally one year:

This is what Google Nest Help suggests if it's only your camera that's going offline:

Hey Dbarry93,

Would it be possible for you to check in the Home app to see which WiFi point your doorbell is connecting to in order to ensure it's currently connecting to the closest point? Also, can you run a mesh test to see what the connection strength of that point is?

Thanks,

Jeff
