Nest Wifi network

If nest cameras are more stable using the 2.4 ghz network why does it automatically connect to the 5.0 ghz network?  How do I select a network for my Nest Hello and Nest Cam?  My Nest Hello and Nest cam are offline at least 40 percent of the day on the 5 ghz network.

When adding google nest cam it didn't let me choose between 2.4 or 5Ghz

So I created a separate WiFi SSID just for cameras and set this to 2.4Ghz from router/wireless access point. So cameras are forced to connect as 2.4Ghz only.

How do you make it just for cameras?  I have a guest wifi network set to 2.4 ghz.  How do I make the cameras join it?

Hi folks,

Good question! If your router has a dual band WiFi frequency you get both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz WiFi network. Your Nest camera recommended router settings are the 2.4 GHz WiFi frequency. If you have a guest network that’s 2.4 GHz, you need to join your Android or iPhone to that WiFi network. Then update the WiFi settings of your Nest camera.

Have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help: Change camera and doorbell WiFi settings.

Thanks,
