I recently installed a NEST doorbell and camera and all went well and the chimes did work. Then the chimes were barely audible so I swapped out a 16V transformer for a 24V and all is well.
Now the chimes work for awhile and then stop working and all I get is a 3 second buzz instead of Big Ben chimes. I put the original button back on and the chimes work fine. I've followed all the troubleshooting and no luck at having them stay working.
One setting that I wonder about is Quiet Time. Should that be on or off, I mean the icon has a slash through it and sometimes it doesn't. I can't figure out which is which. I'd like to never turn off the chimes. Thanks for any help.

An update. I find that if I turn off the chime and then turn it back on again in the app, it works for a short while. Trying to determine that time length currently.

Hi GeorgeP69,
I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting your Nest Doorbell. Let's try to get to the bottom of this. Do you have a mechanical or electronic chime? Is your device a 1st gen or 2nd gen Nest Doorbell?
To let the indoor chime ring when the doorbell button is pressed, Quiet Time should be set to off. More information here: Nest doorbell chime doesn't ring or sounds weak.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Lance

Thanks Lance for the reply but I think I figured it out, albeit accidentally. I bought this in October 2022 but just got around to installing in earlier this month so I'm not sure if it's gen 1 or 2 and I don't know how to tell the difference. The chimes are electronic.
My steps:
1. Factory reset the camera/doorbell.
2. Reset everything the way I wanted it through the app.
Tried the doorbell and nothing but a buzzing noise.
3. Went back downstairs and swapped the wires on the transformer that lead to the doorbell.
4. Turned the doorbell off and then back on after a few minutes at the electrical box.
Presto it now works. I've been keeping track of it by ringing it every time I go past the front door and no problems except my dog barking that is.
I have no idea what I did that was different in the troubleshooting aside from the transformer wires being changed so maybe thats the factor I discovered by accident.
Thanks again and I hope someone else can benefit from my actions.

Oops forgot to mention. I turned the switch in the electrical box off before swapping the wires....😁 Then I turned it back on for a few minutes without testing first and then turned it back on.
