Nest Wired Doorbell - chime works but is quiet

My electrician wired my new Nest doorbell at the front door, and what I have noticed is that the sound of the chime inside is quieter with the Nest doorbell than with the back door bell (standard wired doorbell).  They both use the same chime.   I know zero about wiring and electrical so hopefully this doesn't sail over my head immediately.

without going too deep in the electrical aspect - I'd take a look at your chime inside (usually just a cover that pops off pretty easily) and see if 1) the remote pieces were installed (should be some white things in there as opposed to just the small wires) I had some issues without those installed, and you don't seem to need them with a competitor video doorbell. and 2) Do you have two bells or just one (sometimes a second bell is wired to a completely separate circuit, other times it's connected to the same piston).

Thanks.  It is a single bell/chime with a single piston.  If you could clarify, what are the "remote pieces" or "white things"?  Maybe that is the issue but I am not sure what you are referring to.

officially it's called the Chime Connector, the white disk should just be hanging out somewhere, the little hooks should be screwed into the chime mechanism, and the the 2 small white pods should have the wall wires from the front plugged into them. the wall wires from the rear doorbell should be going straight to the chime mechanism.

and double check that none of the wires are touching each other, or anything metal inside that box (as everything gets crammed in it might be shorting somewhere)

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

  • If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.
