Nest Wired Video Doorbell without other Nest Products?

SiscoWolf

Hello,

I have followed every instruction to the letter. It says nowhere on the box or product description that the Nest Wired Doorbell needs other active Nest Products to function properly - however during setup, I am stuck at the part where it attempts to use other products to gain a WIFI connection.

I do have a Nest Thermostat that is active on my account and WIFI. Same as the WIFI on my phone, same google account. I have reset the doorbell several times, moved them within a foot of each-other, have started the Nest App process over... I have done everything I can to get this stupid thing set up.

Is there a way to set it up without using another Nest Product? Or am I missing something?

If another nest product is required then I am very disappointed and google should have listed that on the box under requirements.

Please do not link me to the troubleshooting guide, I have exhausted everything available to me online, which is why I am asking on this forum. Thank you!

Pairing system is awfull, after one hour with the support They asked me to try creating a new Home entry. The pairing works. But impossible to change the house of a device...

Then they asked me to remove the doorbell from my home to retry and now pairing was successfull. Perhaps in your case, remove the thermosta from your home, add the doorbell then add the thermostat ? Dangerous move...

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Brad, I opted to replace the wired for a wireless model so it would run on the same app as my nest thermostat. The battery doorbell is having the same connectivity issue.  There is no option to manually input the Wi-Fi info. It auto searches for other devices and never finds anything.  What can I do?

@CaptainPicard

You can attempt to remove the Thermostat off of the same Wifi channel as the rest of your products, and that could help be routing it to a different channel. For example: if your Thermostat was moved to the 5Ghz wifi channel, and everything else is on the 2.4Ghz channel, then you can try to install the Nest Doorbell and re-establishing that connection could make it so that it can finally be added without issue. I have seen someone do something similar on another thread, and it worked for them. Slightly different circumstances, but could be worth a try.

Best regards,

Brad.
