Nest battery camera does not detect animals

Just got this camera and its mounted just several feet from where my dogs and cat frequently walk near our pool.  I have it setup to detect and notfiy about animals.  It doesn't work at all unless I go by with them.  I tried all the things in the many many other posts on this.  I feel I've been bamboozled on the capabilities of this device.

Hi there Jaymar10,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

It can be frustrating if your Nest battery camera isn't able to show you notifications of the event you need, but don't worry, let's see what's going on.

If you're having trouble getting notifications from your animals, I suggest reconfiguring your settings to make sure the app has received them correctly. You can do this by:

  • Opening the Google Home app.
  • Tapping Settings > Notifications.
  • Selecting General notifications.
  • Toggling any notifications you want off then on again.

Do you have any other device that is using your Google Home account? If not, I suggest trying with another device to check if you can receive notifications there.

However, can you also let me know if it's only the notifications or if the event itself isn't being detected? You can check these events by:

  • Tapping Activity Filter.
  • Filtering for a specific device or event type.
  • Tapping Show results.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Angel.
