Nest cam (Battery) as wired

JW180

I just purchased the nest cam battery, and the weatherproof cables.

I am planning on drilling holes in the Garage wall, to tunnel the cable to an indoor outlet so there are no exposed wires. Does anyone have any experience on how to do this? I can't find any guides.

The website says 1/2 in 13mm drill bit, but does the cable go through the mounting bracket? or next to it etc?

How big is the cable itself  in relation to the hole? Would I need to seal the hole with weatherproof sealant?

Thanks in advance!

I'm just commenting here as one customer to another, but I think you're on your own on this. We have a couple of the older Google Nest Outdoor Cameras, and I drilled a 7/8-inch hole to accommodate the plug on the cable, and then sealed the hole in the garage wall with silicone caulk, and used the fasteners that came with the camera to secure the cable on the inside of the garage wall.

Our new Google Nest Camera Battery is plugged in at an outside outlet. If you run yours through the wall, you'll need a hole big enough to accommodate the plug that attaches to the camera.  Maybe a 1/2-inch hole will be big enough; I don't know.  The cable itself will be a lot smaller than the hole, so you'll need to seal the hole.

You'll also need to deal with the challenge that the plug faces towards the front of the camera. With ours, which is mounted under a hood, I used a fastener at the edge of the hood, to allow the cable to loop back to the wall while keeping it away from the camera's line of vision. I waited on tightening the fastener until I got the camera positioned where I wanted it, and then took most of the slack out of the cable and fastened it down.

do you mind sharing any pictures you have of the set up?

Thanks!

I''m not sure photos would help, and the clips or fasteners I have inside our garage for the two older cameras are in the rafters in out of the way places. The fasteners I'm talking about are the ones that come with the cable, where you put the fastener around the cable and then screw it into a wall or stud. Do what works in your situation. I just tried to secure the cables so they wouldn't get pulled out accidentally.
