Nest camera Notification changes not saving

timmyk77

When I got into my Nest app on my iPhone and switch the notification settings for my Nest camera (When to send changed from Always -> No one's home) and (Activity - unselecting All Other Motion) it does not save. I got back into notifications and its back to always and all other motion. Why are my changes not saving? Thanks

Same issue here.  Spent about 90 on chat with tech.  No resolution, and they escalated it.  Guessing a bug of some type.  I also noticed the issue the night of 12/15.  Same results on Samsung S21 and Pixel 6.

Were you able to get it fixed? I have the same issue here.

Same issue here with both of my cameras for the last couple of nights. They won't stay set on Always. And on my samsung phone, I believe the blue dot used to be solid and now there's a white ring around the blue. I still get the notification if someone goes in the room with the camera, as if it's set, even though it keeps reverting to No one's home.

It's very odd.  On the Samsung, for a floodlight camera, I can save changes to Notifications, but not push or away-only.  If I change either of those 2, the Notifications change, but none of that saves.  For an indoor camera, I can't save any changes...but it also changes notifications as I change push/away-only.

On the Pixel and an Ipad, no changes can be saved for either camera.  But notifications change on those as I change push/away only (they just revert back when I go back into the app).

Reset both cameras and re-added them to the account, cleared cache/data in the app, changed home/away detection, removed the app and put only on a single device.  Same results for all of it.

I wasn’t receiving notifications like I normally do when packages are dropped off, someone pulls into my driveway, etc.  I checked my nest notifications and none of them are checked to “always.”  I know I previously checked them all for alerts.  What is going on here???

I am feeling your pain. My setting take effect, though, and just seem to revert within 24 hours. Not always the same settings but it most commonly seems to change my Outdoor Cam from just Push Notifications for People/Motion to Push/Email for all activity... Filling my inbox with emails for every time a car drives down my street or someone walks by with their dog... It also changed my settings to not use mobile location to the contrary, and what to do when I'm home from no change to turn off... This has been going on for a few weeks now and is driving me crazy when compounded with the myriad of issues I'm having with my Pixel 6 Pro...

I don’t see any explanation for this problem. Is it a bug?  I have cameras in two different cities. One set of cameras works fine yet the other locations cameras will not keep notification settings nor will it send notifications. I know others on the account are receiving notifications from all same cameras in all location. It’s just me that cannot get my settings to stay as set and receive notifications.  I’ve checked all my phone settings numerous times to see what might be causing the problem but I cannot find anything causing this problem.

When I select All Other Motion for two cameras in one location a blue check mark appears and then disappears. I cannot set this as my setting.

@Pvhoffman

Go ahead and restart your Nest cam then. If that doesn't work, Factory Reset it so it can remove any strange settings it may have now. Of course, this will reset it back to factory settings so you will need to adjust everything again, but it could help eliminate your issue.

Best regards,

Brad.

I have considered doing that however, it’s only my phone not receiving the notifications. My husband and son both are receiving notifications.  If I mess with the 2 cameras that are not sending me notifications, it may cause problems for their notifications that are currently working.

Alright well it's a good idea to still start with a Restart if nothing else. That will not do any hard by restarting, neither would a Factory Reset besides having to set it up again. But start with the Restart.

Best regards,

Brad.

Is it possible to restart the cam remotely? People wrote here that factory reset did not help them. I have the same issue here. When I select All Other Motion a blue check mark appears and then disappears. And not getting any notifications.
Do you have other idas how to fix it? It looks like an old problem and it is connected wth the app’s software.
