Nest doorbell (battery) camera won’t turn off

Have had the doorbell for a while and can no longer turn the camera off through the app. I tried deleting the app. Was working until recently. Still has WiFi connection as I can see live video and it records events. When I try to turn off camera from the  app I get the white wheel of death (endless clocking). Please help! Thank you.

Same problem. Have factory reset, removed and reinstalled, nothing works very long. Worked fine until recently. Why no answers from "experts"?

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

Already done.  As I stated I have performed a factory reset, removed it from the mount, removed and reinstalled the device, uninstalled and reinstalled the Home app, nothing has corrected the issue.  My wife has the same issue when using her Pixel phone.  No issues with the other Nest doorbell or cams in the house.

@OriginalPolo

Sorry to hear you're still experiencing this. Have you attempted to try this from a non-android or pixel device? That may be a good step to try if you can.  This could be another tablet, or phone with access to your Google home app.

Best regards,

Brad

Unfortunately/fortunately??, I am a loyal Android/Pixel user and don't own a non-Android device:-(. I don't believe I can access from a Windows computer, unless you know otherwise?

Hey OriginalPolo,

Thanks for following up. Live video is available only for 2nd gen Nest cameras and doorbells that you control with the Home app.

Here’s how to turn off your Nest Doorbell (battery):

  1. Open the Home app Google Home app.
  2. On the home screen, touch and hold your camera's tile to view its live video stream.
Note: If your camera is battery powered, the battery status screen will appear first. Tap Live video to go live.
  3. On the live view screen, tap More options 3 dot menu icon.
  4. Select Turn on camera or Turn off camera.

Note: If your camera is already turned off, you’ll also find Turn on camera near the bottom of the live view screen.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the help here, Brad.

Thanks,

JT
