Nest doorbell ‘indoor chime’ greyed out?

Lawson

I’ve installed a google hub max, 2 wireless outdoor cameras, 1 wired indoor camera and a door bell successfully in the Home app. We also have a number of google speakers around the house.

Only the hub max shows in the nest app… Anyone have a clue why?

In the settings for the doorbell the option to toggle the ‘indoor chime’ to on so that the speakers and hub ‘ding-dong’ when the doorbell is pushed is greyed out. It can’t be toggled to on.  Any ideas why?!

Im thinking to install everything to reinstall but worried it might be a lot of wasted effort. Can someone help?!

Thank you.

Google Nest decided that the Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in the autumn of 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website. In addition, Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers have always worked ONLY in the Google Home app. However, the camera in the Nest Hub Max works in the Google Nest app. It's all part of Google Nest's 2-app approach; over a year ago, Google Nest's VP posted this explanation: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...

If your battery doorbell is NOT wired, then it seems the "Indoor chime" option is grayed out and disabled because an indoor doorbell chime cannot be rung if it is not wired. However, you can use the "Visitor announcements" setting for your doorbell to send "visitor announcements to your Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451?hl=en

Note also that a few weeks ago Google Nest announced upcoming upgrades to the Google Home app: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Recap-Introducing-the-new-Google-Home-app-and-Nest-devic...

They also announced a new website (http://home.google.com--still in preview mode--where video feeds from all of our cameras can be viewed: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Check-out-your-cameras-on-the-web-with-Google-Home/ba-p/...
