Nest doorbell peeling ( second time)

Torchr

This is the second Nest doorbell I have had the problem of the unit peeling. Nest replaced my original unit with a refurbished unit, now it too is peeling ( just past the warranty period). I contacted Nest and spoke with a representative and he told me that there was nothing he could do to help me as the unit is out of warranty. I have searched the Nest community forums and it appears that this is an issue for many customers. I will be contacting customer service again to complain about their faulty product. I guess Ring is going to me my solution going forward.
Nest should stand behind their products.
Not a happy customer.

I have same issue, just noticed it this past week. Purchased 2019 and in an area with covered porch, rare exposure to rain and sun for only a few hours late afternoon in Summer.  Looked like had a protective film that was not removed. Scraped most off with a fingernail and ordered a silicon cover because so unsightly. Fear is that will get too hot with cover but no other options at this point. The unit discontinued according to my research.

With this post, there are now 270 threads about "peeling" Google Nest Hello Doorbells in this forum. One of our Nest Hello doorbells--20 months old--is peeling.  That Nest Hello and another one of ours also won't ring the internal chime anymore due to a failing internal battery (another defect with hundreds of posts here in this forum). It certainly seems both are clearly known defects.  Google Nest says they "cannot" replace them if they are more than one year old.

In previous posts, I've suggested that customers with Nest Hello doorbells that are peeling--or failing to chime due to a failing internal battery--be given a discount on a new, re-designed Google Nest Hello Doorbell that has a user-replaceable internal battery obtainable from Google Nest and that corrects the susceptibility to peeling. So far, no one from Google Nest has responded.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I apologize that you have still been having this peeling issue, but if the device is out of warranty I am afraid there is nothing that we can do for you here in the forums. If you have further questions or need further assistance, please reach out to Support

Best Regards,

Brad.
