Nest doorbell talk and listen still doesn’t work on Samsung phones

C’mon Google, how long has it been since it was first reported that talk and listen does not work with most Samsung phones. We have all google products in our smart home so getting the nest doorbell was the natural choice when we decided to get a smart doorbell. But when we had issues with talk and listen I searched the internet and noticed the issue…and it’s like years old. I am completely gobsmacked that you are failing your customer’s in this way. You locked/closed the thread @Brad was helping with, which to me indicates that you don’t care. This is completely unacceptable and I will soon return my doorbell, sell it or throw it in the bin with all my other google products and move to Amazon or apple if you don’t get your act together.

Thanks Brad,

All seems to be working again 👍🏻

The volume is at max and although I can be heard on the doorbell the volume could be a little higher for times when street noise is higher. I'm wondering if this may be a limitation of the doorbell device itself though?

Similar issue here.

Will be looking at taking legal action to have my uPVC Door Frame replaced after I've been left with two holes in it after removing a doorbell that is clearly not compatible with Samsung phones. Big Fail on behalf of Google

Pleased to report that the latest update to Google Home (Version 2.50.1.7) has resolved the talk and listen problem on my Nest Doorbell Battery and all 3 of my Nest Cam Battery units.  The volume could be louder but visitors can now hear me talk when I use Google Home on my Samsung S21.  Thanks to all the members who contributed to this thread and the numerous other threads about this problem.  I would like to think it pushed Google to issue the necessary fix after several years of them ignoring the problem.

Please don't lock the thread. Turns out I was mistaken.  I was incorrect and the problem is not resolved.  Adjusting the volume of the camera in the Home App Audio settings, for example lower then to back high, results in talk and listen working correctly at that time.  But only for 1 instance.  When you stop live video then return to it and try talk and listen again the volume problem is the same as it was before, far too low for anyone to hear it.  Please advise Google the software defect is NOT fixed for Samsung phones.

Well it does seem that the feature is working on my S21 but as divadyasdnil said the volume is quite low even though I have it set at max on the app.

Tried it on an off over last few days and so far it remains working.

Hopefully the volume issue will be addressed soon.

Hi Brad,

I have just checked and sadly it has returned to not working or volume so low it can't be heard.

Any suggestions?

@Rickb

Make sure that your phone volume is up first, and then test it again. Restart the device, and if you are still having the issue then reach out to Support

Best regards,

Brad.

@Rickb

This is a learning system, so that is possible or it could be something that an update could fix.

Best regards,

Brad.
