Nest doorbell (wired) laminate coating is disentigrating

I've had the unit installed for over a year and have been fairly happy with it. But after going through it's first Southern California summer I noticed a bunch of clear flecks on the surface. At first I thought they were from a protective film I'd forgotten to remove during installation, but it wasn't. After the recent heavy rains I am seeing more and more of this thick laminate coating flaking off. I can see two tiny spots under the glass covering the lens area and can see a slight diffused quality to video at night that wasn't present before. I'm concerned that the weatherproof qualities are gone and it's failure is an inevitability. Not very desirable in a device that is meant to spend it's entire existence outside, around the elements. Is there a product anyone can recommend to repair this?
