Nest doorbell won't pulse blue

I reset my nest doorbell (battery) to factory settings. The light won't pulse blue. I plugged it in, the light is white, does not pulse blue so I can't set it up.

Hi Jl3b,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm sorry to hear about the connectivity issues with your Nest Doorbell. I understand that you already followed some basic troubleshooting steps, like restarting and resetting the Nest devices.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  • What type of Nest Doorbell is it? What model do you have? 1st Generation or 2nd Generation?

The blue light pulse is a crucial indicator that your Nest Doorbell is ready for setup. If it's not pulsing, it can hinder the setup process. Let's troubleshoot this together. Here's what you can do:

Power and Reset:

  • Ensure the doorbell is fully charged or connected to power.
  • Make sure to Perform a factory reset as established on the help center. This should trigger a blue light pulse after release.
  • Ensure there are no physical obstructions blocking the doorbell sensors or preventing the blue light from being visible.

Verify Wi-Fi Network Connection:

  • Other Devices: Check if other Wi-Fi devices in your home are connected and functioning normally. If not, the issue might lie with your Wi-Fi network itself.
  • Signal Strength: Ensure your Nest Doorbell is receiving a strong Wi-Fi signal. If it's far from your router, consider:
    • Moving it closer: A stronger signal can improve connection stability.
    • Using a Wi-Fi extender: If relocating isn't feasible, an extender can boost the signal in that area.

Follow the steps from this guide to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues and to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages (even if there is no specific error).

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Best,

Mario
