Why does Google release a camera under Nest name, that is totally incompatible with the Nest camera's that I already own? Now I have a handful of camera's which work throught the Nest app and with a very good web version. But one camera that only works with the Google Home app, for which there is no web application to speak off (yeah you can see 'live view' goodluck).
This is a product release way before the supporting infrastructure is ready. There is no sign of the older Nest cameras working in either the Google Home app or webversion.
This new camera is a cheat; Google broke the Nest platform and replaced it by incompletely developed rubbish platform and a camera with less functionality. Bring on a good working (web) app or offer money back on all cameras I own.
Truth is, at the moment everyone should consider moving to a different platform altogether, if additional cameras are needed. Nest just isn't something to rely on anymore.

I have the same frustrations. I have a doorbell camera and 2 older cameras (one outdoor and one indoor) that I bought around August 2020. I liked the Nest app, except for the constant blue swirling failure to load quickly nonsense. I bought a new indoor camera this year and managed to migrate the others to the Google Home app, but it's so bad. When I try to watch on my computer (google search "google home login") sometimes it gives some weird error message that makes it sound like it's no longer supported, but then the next day it will let me login and watch. The web page is bad, it doesn't let you rewind or save video and likes to tell me there was no activity even though we are right by the camera.
The new camera itself is also worse than the older ones: smaller angle of view and feedback sound when sitting by the TV (the old one never did that in that same spot). Why do you acquire a company that was making good products and software to make it worse?
I need to add more cameras, but considering trying to sell all these and get a different brand that actually loads and has a good website.

Oh yeah, and one of the old cameras in my toddler's room was super hot to the touch that I had to unplug it all night for fear of it starting a fire. No impressed!

This is how Kurt from Google support handles the issue:
"I understand. These are all noted here, Martien. At the same time, this is how the products and services work, and we're unable to change that at the moment. But, you can forward your feedback using the email that you will receive after our chat. And since I have other customers who need my assistance, I'll be ending this chat now. Thank you for contacting Google Support and have a good day."
Discussion closed. Customer F*** off. I don't think Google Nest deserves anyone's trust anymore. That home.google.com hasn't changed since 2022, so don't count on updates anymore.
Ever heard of Wyze anyone? Experience?

Hi there,
Thank you for your feedback on this, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest cams in the Nest app like you may be used too. However, the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays.
You can now use the Google Home web app to view your cameras and doorbells. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.
Best regards,
Brad

The Google Home web app isn't a shadow of the Nest app. You cannot view the history of any camera (not the old Nest, not the new Google camera). Absolutely useless for security use.
Nice you're looking for an integrated experience when Google is creating exactly the opposite. A segregated experience where a lot of money was paid for products that have been made obsolete overnight.
Stop talking, fix the downward compatibility as Google is promising since 2021 and should've done in the first place. This isn't a new issue, I learned after my useless purchase of an indoor/outdoor battery camera.

I believe I did that a while ago when I purchased the latest Google Nest Camera and found out what a garbage heap the Nest application landscape has become. Only to find out that - had I not trusted the product and read the forum - I could have known that this situation remained unchanged since 2021.
Google could make it up with a refund for all cameras I own (after all, they're obsolete and the set up can no longer be adapted to my needs). Or replace all obsolete cameras by new ones at minimum cost (that doesn't solve the web app issue but at least shows good will).
Google offers neither. There is no way you can talk right, what isn't.

Well... Check again! Because I have not heard a word from them except for one lame answer. And I will continue to pollute this forum with my rants, until I get a serious answer from a seriously real person with some serious influence to resolve issues.

When the f*** will someone come back to this issue?
There are so many issues with Nest and Google stuff. But I would be satisfied with just replacing my old camera's with Google Home compatible cameras. Nothing else.
I could complain about the Nest Protect completely incompatible and demand a solution. I could demand a solution for the non-existing support for browser-based Google Home. I could complain about the draining batteries on the Nest protects. Or the home.nest.com increasing slowness. But, no, I don't. I ask for one simple solution from Google. And Google doesn't even bother to contact as promised.
Get away from everything NEST or GOOGLE HOME. They're just **bleep**ers!
04-07-2023 09:51 AM
I did not say **bleep**ers. I said F U C K E R S .

I am also frustrated with the Google Home for Web experience. I just bought four new cameras and I have 16 cameras that are on the Nest platform. The new cameras only work on the Google app, they do work on Google Home for Web but I can not rewind. This is a terrible experience. Why not use your AI to fix the problem. This needs to get fixed.
06-26-2023 09:07 AM
And the support is even worse. Google web is still in "preview" mode. For over a year now. Yes, they removed the label "preview" but functionally nothing changed.
You can add your entire Philips Hue collection and everything else geeky to the Google Home app, but they can't figure out how to do that with the original Nest products.
It's not just camera's, the smoke and CO detectors too.
I can't substantiate this, but the Nest website and app performance has degraded. And I suspect them of letting that happen intentionally.
