Nest outdoor cam generating loads of false person alerts

Habanero78

I have setup zones, I have selected to only get alerts for 'person' detection.

I am getting a person alert from every gust of wind in the garden. This goes off all night - and is making the camera unusable.

This issue has been posted multiple times - is there a fix? Google has the ai to detect a person/face accurately so something is clearly broken in the current setup? My nest hello doesn't falsely flag all motion as 'person'

My nest app doesn't give the functionality to reduce sensitivity - as I've seen suggested in previous posts.

Please can you give a general update on how this know issue is being progressed by the nest team

Many thanks

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. I know that you can adjust the sensitivity in the Google Home App, but not in the Nest App. I am afraid besides setting up Activity Zones, you may not have an option too adjust further. Do you have the option to move where your camera is located?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I am having a similar issue with my Nest Hello doorbell. At night, headlights and reflections of headlights from  passing cars on the street trigger "person" detection. I get dozens of alerts each evening.

You mentioned adjusting the sensitivity, how do you do that? I don't see that in either the Nest app (as mentioned above) or in the Home app when I click on setting for the linked cameras.

@ironick

What is your Nest App and Google Home App's most recent software update?

Hey folks,

Thanks for that information. With those updates I believe you should be up to date on the firmware. Are any of you using an Samsung cell phone?

Best Regards,

Brad.

I get the alerts on a pixel and my partner on an iPhone also. Currently I've had to turn off notifications on that camera - but can test again if you think there may be a fix. Thanks

Hi @Brad  can I check if the issue (many many false person alerts) reported here and elsewhere by many people is an open issue that is with developers to resolve?

Thanks

The same thing is happening on my Nest Outdoor. Multiple motion events which are not people (usually cars driving by) are detected as a "person" and trigger my push notification. But tbh the issue isn't with the push notification, it's with the fact that Nest/Google AI is incorrectly identifying what used to be labeled correctly as "motion" (the cars) with "person".

This improper labeling issue started to occur right around the same time of late October.

Im having the same issue on the nest cam. Person seen notification lots when nobody there. Has anyone managed to resolve this issue as the experts seem to just stop replying to many posts.
