Nest outdoor camer

I’ve used NEST indoor & outdoor camera for a long time and love them. Several years ago I bought two outdoor cameras but only installed one. I now have a use for the other camera but it doesn’t power up. When I plug it in the camera’s LED light doesn’t light up. I’ve tried unhooking and re-plugging at power supply as well as power source but the camera seems to be dead. It’s never been exposed to weather, always stored inside in a box. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions re a repair solution.

Hi BillinTX,

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Camera Outdoor does not power up. A few questions:

  • Are you using the USB cable and adapter that shipped with the camera?
  • Is the Nest Cam Outdoor’s cable securely connected to the power adapter? Push and twist the USB connector into place. Then, plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  • Are there any kinks or frays in the cable? Inspect for damages on the cable.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi there,

Gotcha. Since the cable of your Nest Camera Outdoor is undamaged and in perfect condition, let's take a look at its adapter by unplugging the power adapter from the power outlet and from the locking USB cable that connects to the camera. If the adapter is okay, use the provided USB cable to connect the camera to a computer. If you are plugging into a laptop, ensure that the laptop is plugged into a power outlet, and then let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Zoe
