My nest outdoor camera seems to have tripped the GFCI circuit it was on around midnight. I went to check the outdoor camera the next day; saw that the outdoor power cord is disintegrating; crumbling. When I touched the cord it just started coming off on my hand like it was dust and I could see wires. I pulled the plug on the camera before reseting the GFCI switch; I did not want to get an electric shock.
I called Nest support right away but the support person did not seem to know what to do. I am waiting for a supervisor to give me a call back. This seems like a serious issue. Am I missing something? Any advice?

Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear about that. Let's check this further. Do you have the case number of your senior support interaction so we can check?
Regards,
Steve

Short answer: No & Case ID: 6-5438000032360
Long answer: Called the google support line as soon as possible. The person on the other hand asked me to send me some pictures. Since it was already dark, I sent them the only picture I had taken. They said you will need to buy a core OR something like that. I wasn't satisfied with his suggestion; This looks like a big issue to me. The outdoor wire sheathing can't just crumble into powder, This could be a major issue so I asked for a supervisor. Waited for 30 mins. Support person could not reach his supervisor. He said someone will reach out to me - that was May 18th. I haven't got any email OR call from google. I also had a GFCI circuit tripping around the same time. I have just unplugged the camera for now.

I called the google support line for a second time yesterday. The person said they did not have access to the previous case and opened another case 9-7904000033015. Waited 30 minutes as the support person tries to escalate to another team. After 30 minutes I had to hang up . She said they will consult and get back to me.
