Nest wired doorbell gen 2. Not receiving alerts on iPhone via Google home apps

Bob58

Since I migrated from Nest app to google home app I have not been receiving notifications. I tried restarting the doorbell with no success.

I have a google battery camera that is working fine -

. There is no option for notifications in the settings page?

I have the same issue. Get notifications on my Google home speakers, but nothing on my Samsung 22+. When I am away with my phone I get nothing!

@Bob58

Your screen capture looks exactly like the one for our Google Nest Hello Doorbell, and NOT the Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2) indicated in your post. It shows the very limited settings that you can control in the Google Home app for the older doorbells. You still have to configure notifications and all other settings for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app.

Well it is a wired gen2. Does this mean I need 2 apps to manage my devices?

@Bob58

As I said, your screen shot looks EXACTLY like what our Google Nest Hello Doorbell screen looks like in the Google Home app, but it is STILL managed in the Google Nest app; there's just minimal info in the Google Home app.

The screens for our two 2nd gen CAMERAS look completely different because they are managed in the Google Home app; Google Nest decided that the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in the last half of 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app:

If you have both old and new cameras and doorbells, yes you need 2 apps, unfortunately.

Hi there,

Thanks for your help on this one, MplsCustomer. It does look like this user may have a Nest Hello going off of the provided screenshots, but thank you for helping them out.

Just checking in to see how the conversation is going. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Sucks that you need two apps to manage various devices, but it is what it is. I guess I will reinstall nest app and connect my doorbell to it

thanjs everyone for your insights

@Bob58

You should not have to "connect" your doorbell to the Google Nest app. If you reinstall the Google Nest app and login with the same Google account you're using for the Google Home app and access the same Google Nest "home/structure", you should see your Google Nest Hello Doorbell.

I see the doorbell in google home app now but don’t receive notifications I.e. doorbell notification or someone coming up the stairs

@Bob58

You said you had a wired gen 2 doorbell, but the screen capture you provided is how our 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells appear in the Google Home app, and we still have to use the Google Nest app to set up notifications and other settings for our Nest Hello doorbells. We CANNOT administer notifications for our Nest Hello Doorbells in the Google Home app, and the notifications come from the Google Nest app.

I have an Samsung S22+. When the Doorbell rings I get notification and video on my Smart speakers (Google Max and a Lenovo Smart Dusplay  when I am at home. I get nothing on my phone whether I am home or away.

@Willjam

Earlier this year, I quit getting notifications on my iPhone. Deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app fixed the problem. I don't know whether it would fix the problem on a Samsung S22+.
