New Google Nest camera does not appear in Nest app

Wul

In July 2022, I bought a new Google Nest battery camera after one of my Nest cameras went faulty due to water ingress. The battery cam has installed but only uses the Google Home App. I cant get it onto the Nest App. With the Google App, I have lost functionality of viewing events, editing clips, notifications plus the frustration of having 3 old cameras on the nest app but having to open the Google app to see the new camera.

I can see previous posts on this issue have been closed by the moderators but no solution has been forthcoming. Please advise when this issue will be resolved such that a new Google Nest camera has the same functionality as the old Nest cameras and we can view all cameras on the same app.

@Wul

Unfortunately, Google Nest deliberately decided that its new Google Nest cameras and doorbells will work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app OR on the home.nest.com website.

Google Nest's oft-repeated justification is this: "the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays."

Back on Sept. 29, 2021, Google Nest's Vice President posted this blog; there has been no update since: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...

That is a crap excuse as I have to use the Nest app to view my other 4 cameras and then the Google Home app for my Nest Cam with Floodlight.

Seriously Google?  Can you not allow us to see all our GOOGLE PRODUCTS ON ONE APP??

@davetn

I agree. We've had to use 2 apps for our Google Nest cameras and doorbells for the last 11 months after buying a Google Nest Camera (Battery) because Google Nest had discontinued its Google Nest Outdoor Cameras.

Good evening, dear all,

have the same issue, but a different concern. I can view all cameras in the Google Home app, which is OK for me. Especially because I have the feeling that it reacts even faster. But I have a Plus Abo for the nest cameras. How can I view the records of the last weeks, beside making clips to share if necessary. The Nest app as well as the internet page are far away from perfect, but at least it works?

Maybe anyone has an idea?

Thanks so much!

Christian

OK,

have found it in the Google Home app.

Can I now delete the Nest app?

The Google Home application is crap and you cannot do quite a few things that the Nest app can do. I love the functionality of the Nest app and now that I am forced to use Google Home, I am going to abandon Google altogether and go back to Arlo. Sending the new crappy camera back to Google today!

They should really fire whomever decided to get away from the Nest app.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://goo.gle/3A7x7ug web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Best Regards,

Brad

Like others here, I recently bought a newer Nest outdoor camera, and have been frustrated by the disconnect. I *only* have Nest cameras -- no speakers or displays -- and so the change has resulted in an incredibly dis-integrated experience.. I have no problem switching to Google Home for all of my cameras, were it not for the fact that the fact that many features of the Nest app are unavailable on it and, even more importantly, there's no way to access the camera through my desktop browser. As such, the experience is worse, and much of the functionality I'd hoped for is simply not available.
