New Nest Battery Doorbell doesn't appear in Nest app or on nest.com

I just received the new Nest (battery) doorbell. Great product. Easy install. But does it work with the Nest app? Or can I view it on my computer at nest.com? I have a couple Nest cams and they still work from the Nest app and nest.com, but the doorbell doesn't appear. The doorbell only appears in the Google Home app.

Overall - how do I view my new Nest (battery) doorbell from a web browser?

I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the new nest cams.   I have a lot of nest cams and was excited to add the new Doorbell (battery) and Outdoor (battery) to my system.  I bought them and have now returned them.  It was a deal breaker for me when I found out they didn't work with the current NEST app and I couldn't view the images on my computer.  Also other big issues like the new Doorbell, even when wired, does not record 24/7.  Most of the things it recorded had the first 1-2 seconds clipped off which is not helpful.  Also can't send clips to others as a link anymore is a big step backwards.   Another problem with the new doorbell is I often get an alert that it see a person but when I go to view the clip I get "This clips isn't available for viewing yet".   This delay is a huge problem and makes me frustrated with the product.  Comparing to Ring and Arlo it looks like Nest is losing this battle when it comes to features and usability.

I completely agree. I have experienced all of these issues. Why doesn't it record all of the time when it's wired? Does the previous version of of the Nest Doorbell (where wired is the only option) record the entire time? Does it work on the web? Does it work in the app? Maybe I just bought the wrong one - the new one just isn't as good as the old one assuming you have the wiring for it.

Hi Yazein,  yes, the previous doorbell does record 24/7 with subscription.  And YES it works on the web along with all the other older cameras.  It does NOT work in the NEST app.   The new one has a few nice features but personally I would recommend getting the older doorbell over the new one.  The features lost in the new one make it a 1 step forward 4 steps back thing.

Pretty lousy that it won't use the nest app- nest aware is also pretty deprecated as well- not sure what it provides for the (battery).

Hey folks,

Thank you so much for your discussion, and feedback! I can fully understand how frustrating it may be that the new Nest Hello Battery Doorbell is not available on the Nest App. I will collect all of this feedback and send it forward. Thank you for bringing this discussion to our new Community Forums as well! Please let me know if more assistance is needed.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,  can  you comment on how long this will take?  Are we stuck with things the way they are until sometime in 2022?   Can anything happen this year?  I REALLY need the ability to view cams in my computer browser.  Is there no way to add them to the already working HOME.NEST.COM website and then slowly phase it out over time.   You really have to help this user base bridge over to the new stuff but it is inexcusable to ask everyone to wait in my opinion.

Hey there, mdr2.

Thank you so much for bringing your concerns, and feedback. I completely understand your frustration in lack of information. However, since the product just launched, we don't have a timeframe on when things might get fixed or when updates may happen. I fully note that this may be unhelpful right this moment, but please understand we are definitely looking into these issues, and will let the community know once we have collected all the feedback and information we need.

Thank you for your patience, and this is what is so great about our forums! Communication and community are so important, and I appreciate all the information that you, and many other community members have provided. Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,  Thank you for the response.   I appreciate it.  But to be honest I don't think you need to still be 'collecting feedback'.  It is very clear what people want:

#1: Either allow the new hardware to work with the NEST app

or #2: Make the GOOGLE HOME app do the things that people have been asking for in this forum for the last few weeks since the product launched.  It is a very clear list of requests.

#3: We badly need a way to view the new cams on our computer in a browser and please do it JUST LIKE you do it in GOOGLE.NEST.COM which work GREAT.
