I am really hoping to come in here and have someone point out how incorrect or inept I am, but I feel that might not happen, unfortunately.

We already have 22 original Nest outdoor cameras, and heavily leverage the Nest app on mobile AND on desktop (to constantly have a view of all "scenes").

Due to issues with the original cameras, the glass lens cover fell off and caused the camera to become inoperable.  After waiting for 3 weeks for another order of the original cameras to get canceled, we saw it was because Google released the new Nest Cam (Battery) version -- so we ordered 4 of these.

Am I missing something, or is this just actually how this product and integration was designed?

  1. No integration to the Nest mobile app or web application.
  2. No preview (comparable to "scene view") in Google Home.
  3. Very limited history view in Google Home.
    1. In the Nest app, you could very easily scroll quickly through a day and see highlights in an actual timelapse type footage review; this isn't possible in Google Home.
  4. No clip or timelapse creation.
  5. No desktop/web interface for Google Home.

If the above is intentional, will definitely need to return the cameras (which is also unfortunate), and make a recommendation to the stakeholders at Nest/Google to converse with their product owners to expand this functionality, or at least look at metrics from how current and prior customers used the application(s).

I heard that Google Home will have a Desktop/ Web interface sometime in 2022. Let's hope that happens.
