On our existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells purchased prior to the fall of 2021, we are able--in the Google Nest app--to select the camera or doorbell and use the Filter to select which event(s) we wish to see (Motion, Dog Bar, Talking, Sound, Motion, People, and/or Doorbell Ring--depending on the camera). We can select, view, and obtain clips of any of these events even if notifications for them were not turned on at the time of the event. We can also manually edit the time duration of these clips. If we scroll through the timeline, all events are distinguished with multiple colors, regardless of whether or not notifications were enabled for them. We can also click on 60 days and select which day's events we wish to see from a Video History calendar. On the home.nest.com website, we cal also click on the Calendar and select which day's events we wish to see from a Video History calendar; on that website, we also have additional functionality for Clips.
On our new Google Nest Battery camera released in the fall of 2021, we are able (with the camera plugged in)--in the Google Home app--to elect the camera and click on History | Event Details to see only the events (People, Animals, Vehicles, and/or for which we notifications were turned on at the time of the event. We cannot manually edit the time duration of any of these events. If we select History | Full History, we see a list of days populated only with the events for which we have turned on notifications. If notifications are not turned on for a given event, no clip for the event is captured, and when scrolling through the timeline, the event is not flagged in the timeline; only events where notifications were enabled at the time are flagged in the timeline, and with just one color. In addition, if there were no notifications for a given day, then that day cannot be selected and you can only view the video history for that day by scrolling backward or forward through the timeline to get to that day. And of course, the new camera cannot be accessed from the home.nest.com website.
These are distinct losses of functionality.

What a trash feature. I found your post trying to research how to edit the lenth of an event because my event didn't capture everything I needed to download. I reached out to Google and they told me the only way to download a clip is that it needs to be captured as an event. I'm debating to return my cameras. Do you think they will create an update to dowload any clip we want?

I am just another Google Nest customer and am not privy to whether Google Nest will add back the Google Nest app features for the new cameras. I can only hope. I remain unhappy that we have one new Google Nest Battery Camera that has poorer functionality than our older Nest cameras and doorbells.

Hopefully, the @GoogleNestTeam is paying attention and they can look into making some positive changes and updates to their functionality. It would be very much appreciated.

Wow this is terrible. I have owned the Nest cameras for years and have had the unfortunate situation of replacing 2 of them. the new cameras do NOT give you the option of looking at the entire footage. if the camera does NOT detect an event it wont show you anything. a blank screen saying no event detected. this is unacceptable. this doesn't really give you security. what if the camera missed something that actually occurred. which happens all the time. you don't have access to it?! @GoogleNestTeam needs to see the whole picture here. we can not depend on the system 100%. we should always have the option of reviewing the entire footage in order to determine whether or not it has value. to top it off we are paying to store the footage and yet the footage is events that the camera decides is important. this new generation of camera's is definitely not worth it. Extremely unhappy customer.

If you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription and your battery camera is plugged in or you have the 2nd gen indoor camera or the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell, then all of the footage is still captured, but the timeline used to scroll through the footage in the Google Home app is quite awkward, Unlike the timeline in the Google Nest app.
