No notifications, Google home & Nest cam battery

Nick1217

Google home version 3.22.1.4

Google pixel 8 pro android 14

I have factory reset the camera, disabled and re-enabled permissions, deleted activity zone, reinstalled Google home app and get 0 notifications for my camera. The camera and notifications have worked for 2 years and suddenly has stopped.

My wife has a pixel 8 pro and still receives notifications.

Hello,  I think for this you need the assistance from an actual Google Tech.   I'm going to escalate this.  You should be hearing directly from them in this thread.

Please return here and let us know how it went and what the solution was.

Hello @Nick1217,

Thanks for posting in the community.
Thank you for providing the details about the issue.

To help us troubleshoot this effectively, please share the following information:

  • Are you signed into the app?
  • Is the device detecting events?
  • Did you receive any push or email notifications?
  • Do you use email or push notifications?
  • Is the airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on?
  • Did you try to use a different mobile device?
  • Were there any changes to the Wi-Fi network?
  • Has the camera been moved recently?

While I gather more information, you can try the following steps:

  1. Ensure that notifications are enabled for your Nest Camera in the Google Home app.
  2. Confirm that your Nest Camera is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone and other devices.
  3. Identify any potential sources of interference near your Nest Camera, such as other electronic devices or wireless networks.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused and are committed to helping you resolve this issue.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or require further assistance.

Best regards,
Jorge

@ovidioj I am signed into Google home. I have about 20 devices on the app and use it daily.

The device detects events if you manually go into the camera to look at events.

I do not receive any notifications

I use push notifications

Airplane and do not disturb are off

The notifications work on my wife's phone which is the same phone as me

No changes to the Wi-Fi network

Camera has not been moved

Notifications are enabled, it is on the same wifi network and there is no interference

Hi Nick1217,

Thank you for kindly responding to Ovidioj's request for information. This helps me provide better assistance.

I understand that your device only detects events when you manually check them, and you're not receiving notifications. I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists despite checking all conditions and following the troubleshooting steps recommended by ovidioj.

Based on the information you provided, I've outlined the following troubleshooting steps:

1.  Account Verification:

  • Ensure you're signed into the correct account in the Google Home App.
    • Open the Home app.
    • On the home screen, tap the profile icon (in the top right corner) so you can confirm if you are signed in to the right account. If you see that it is not the right one, you can change it by tapping the account name to switch accounts or add another account.

  • If using the Nest app, confirm that email notification settings are enabled.
  1. On the Nest app home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Pick your battery camera to change notifications for.
  3. If you get an option for email notifications, make sure it’s enabled.

2.  Notification Settings:

Turn off all notification settings in the Home app or Nest app, and double check if the Web app has the same settings. If you are using the Nest app, you should also double check that the Nest web app has the same notification settings as the mobile app.

3.  Device and app refresh:

Sign out of the Nest account on all devices it’s signed into, including computers.

  • Clear the app's cache.
  • Restart the phone.
  • Reinstall app.

Sign in and turn all notification settings back on. If needed, double check if the Nest web app has the same settings.

If you still do not receive any notifications, please try with the following:

4.  Check the app permissions:

  • Go to the device’s Settings.
  • Select apps and notifications.
  • Select all apps.
  • Locate the Home app or Nest app.
  • Select Notifications.
  • Ensure that the toggle is on.

Please let me know if these troubleshooting steps worked.

Yours truly,

Virna

Hi Nick1217,

Thank you for your reply.

I apologize that following the previous troubleshooting steps was not useful to resolve the inconvenience. Could you please let me know if you or your wife are in the public preview program?

Also, I would appreciate you telling me if you are the main owner of the cameras or if it is your wife.

Thanks for your kind attention; please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna

Switching notifications off, uninstalling app, reinstalling app, and switching notifications back on must have fixed it. Notifications randomly started working this morning. I am in the public preview program and I am the owner of the cameras. Thanks for the help, any idea what happened?

@Cifuentes8

Hello, the problem was fixed for a day.

I stopped receiving notifications again.

I turned notifications off, uninstalled app, reinstalled app and turned notifications back on. Working for now.

Is there a reason they continue to stop working?
