Old Nest Camera doesn’t work with Google Home?

EzellRyan

I have 2 nest cameras outdoor I’ve had for 4 years now. I just got a Google Flood Light with Nest camera. I can only access my 2 nest cameras from the nest app and only access my Google nest camera from the Google home app. Is there a way to merge these? If not, what in the world is going on?

This 2-app approach is deliberate on the part of Google Nest. The new cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 can only be accessed from the Google Home app. We can see the camera feeds for our older cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app, but full administration and access of our older cameras can only be done in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website.

You can see what Google says about this 2-app approach in these blog posts in this forum--along with considerable customer reaction. In the first blog post, dated Sept. 29, 2021, Google says: "we are committed to bringing the experiences and Nest devices you have come to love in the Nest app into the Home app."  We are still waiting.
