Old camera does not work with google home?

KHendricks

Am I missing something? Why do I now need two apps, the old Nest app and the Google Home app, to view my two cameras? I am setting up camera for my parents. They have an older nest outdoor camera and the newer battery (with the wired outlet) camera. I can view the old camera recording history in the nest app but not in the google home app. And for the new battery camera, I can only see the camera and get to its recordings in the google home app? This is absolutely horrible and unacceptable. Is there a fix for this? This is horrible if I now have to get my parents to use two different apps to get the same functionality from the same company.

KHendricks,

You are not missing something. Unfortunately, you now have to use two different apps if you have a new Google Nest Camera Battery and one or more existing Google Nest cameras.  (We are in the same boat, with a new Google Nest Camera Battery with the Google power cable, and existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells.)   There is at present no fix for this, and numerous threads discussing this.

Google's perspective on this, along with customer feedback, can be found here:

If you go to Google's blogs in this forum, you can find other statements and details from Google here:

Thank you. Don’t be evil huh? As long as they are actually working on bring the old cameras over the. I guess we have to wait until then. Thank you for your input!!

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

You are asking whether we saw Google's response. But nothing in Google's response here acknowledges that customers now need to use two apps to manage their Google Nest cameras and there is no "troubleshooting" that can fix that.
