Outdoor Camera with Flood Lights

I just bought the Nest Camera with Flood Light…however the Google Home App is giving me a battery reading…but it’s hard wired to house…how is this possible and why is the battery slowly going down?

Also is there a setting where I can leave the flood lights on?  They are on a switch inside my house andi want to turn them on and off from switch not turn on only from motion sensor and I do not want them to go off from timer setting s.

finally I have a monthly recording account with Nest, can I add this to my recordings through Nest?

Having the exact same issue. I have had my floodlight/camera for about two months, bought it the day it became available. It has been working great and then all of a sudden yesterday it started giving the battery warning and stopped broadcasting. I have tried removing power and turning it back on, and the floodlights come on, but the camera doesn't do the usual "ding" or have the light on camera light up

I just installed the Nest Cam with Floodlight, outdoor/wired.  In the Home Appp, it appeared to think it was just a battery operated cam, when I first installed it.  This in spite of using the scanned QR code. It too came up with a battery percentage of 65%.  Over time it decided it was a floodlight cam, and actually showed two icons on the app, One a camera, and the other a light bulb icon, which is the flood light portion of the device.  It can be turned off and on via the app, regardless of outdoor motion.  Try the power off reboot if you do not see the two icons in the app.  AS many have pointed out the app is a joke relative to the next app and much more limited, but is the only choice for this product.

I forgot to add in the above post that I do believe there is a battery in NestCam Flood light.  It will power the camera ONLY for some period of time, should there be a power outage.  I can not find this in the Google Nest documents, nor is it mentioned in most reviews, but at least one review I read made note of it.  Assuming it is really there, it is a worthy feature yet ignored by most.

The camera in the nest floodlight product is the same camera as the nest outdoor/indoor battery camera.

There's a small cable that goes from the floodlights to the camera, it should plug in under the camera. If this is disconnected or not seated properly, you'll find the camera will go into battery mode, and yeah, eventually run out.

So, I'd suggest first making sure that little cable is plugged into the camera. Make sure that it's seated well, the plug should sit completely flush all the way around, with the outer casing of the camera (one of my battery nest cams doesn't charge well if I haven't really pushed that cable in tight). And if all of that doesn't solve it, you've either got a faulty camera that isn't taking charge from the cable, or you've got a faulty floodlight that isn't putting charge down that cable.

The light switch was turned off and now battery is Dead and offline. How long does it take to charge?  After reading this thread will it charge?

I have the same problem. 9 days later... NO camera. NOT happy

Perhaps Google Nest Support should explain the purpose and function of the battery in the floodlight camera.  (We have one of the new Google Nest Battery Cameras; when plugged in with the optional power cable, it shows as "Live" and "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol in the Google Home app.  If it is unplugged, it shows as "Idle" with a battery percentage.  If it unplugged after being plugged in continuously, the battery is at 100%.). For the floodlight camera, is the camera "Live" all the time and is the camera powered all the time? If so, then is the battery's function just as backup during a power outage?  If this is the case, then why are customers seeing their batteries run down?  If the camera is not powered all the time, then when is it powered?  Only when the lights come on?  Or something else?

Just installed this camera yesterday and I to am now getting a battery percentage icon that's slowly draining. Doesn't seem to be any answer from Google Nest.

I am very surprised that Google cannot offer any suggestions here, but I will offer some.

Confirm you have power to the unit, no one has switched off the switch that may have been used to control this light receptacle if it is a retrofit  from a non-smart light.

Do you show two icons in the app?  One a light bulb and the other a camera?  If so, turn on the light icon.  If the floodlight lights than you have power to the unit.  If not you have no power or the connector is not in place.

As others have stated make sure the camera to floodlight connector is in place.  There is a retention screw with a 3mm hex.

After being powered for days, if I switch off power my battery will show around 70%, which I consider a reasonable state of charge for the battery chemistry used. When powered infinity is shown.

I have had mine installed for about two weeks now.  Certainly not a trouble free install.  At first only the camera would show on the app, no flood light.  Reinstall fixed that.  Camera function became very flakey next and ultimately resulted in the camera requiring a complete reset, which involves removing the camera to press a reset button on the back. Another ladder trip, since the app cannot do a reset.  It was never clarified if the reset can be done with camera removed, assuming it is charged, or if it must be connected to floodlight which is difficult with short cord.

It has now settled down and seems to be working OK.  App is a real downgrade from NEST app, does not show my Nest Protects, etc., so I am now stuck with two apps.  I am not convinced what the Google position is on the longevity of this sector in their portfolio.

So strange…after one week of wired Nest Cam with floodlight being offline with no floodlight icon showing in app…this morning it was back online with the floodlight icon now showing in the app.  All other Nest cams in same location have been working this entire time period and we have not been home this entire time.  What explains this phenomenon?
