Outdoor Nest Cam Notifications only sent to two randomly chosen phones

marktgray

I have seven phones logged into the android "Home" app (4 for my account, and 3 for my parents account) but notifications for my Nest Cam outdoor are only sent to two of the phones for each of the accounts, apparently chosen at random. This is inconvenient because often the two phones with SIMMS in them (the only ones likely to leave the house) are among those that do not receive a notification. Is there any way to get notifications on all of the phones, or do I have remove the app from phones that do not need notifications?

Hi marktgray,

Thank you for your response and detailed information.

Based on your answers, please do the following:

  • Turn off all notification settings in the Google Home app.
  • Sign out of the Nest account on all devices it's signed into. Also clear the cache in the Google Home app for all the phones and restart them.
  • Sign in and turn all notification settings back on.
  • Check the Google Home app permissions. Here are the steps:

For Android users:

  1. Go to the device’s Settings.
  2. Select apps and notifications.
  3. Select all apps.
  4. Locate the Google Home app.
  5. Select Notifications.
  6. Ensure that the toggle is on.

For iOS users:

  1. Go to the device’s Settings.
  2. Look for the Google Home app.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Ensure that the toggle is on.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron

Hi marktgray,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry that you're experiencing troubles with notifications sent only for two phones. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • Are you and all members signed into the right account in the Google Home app?
  • Is the Nest Outdoor Cameras detecting events?
  • Did you receive any push or email notifications?
  • Has anything changed in your environment?
  • Is the airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on?
  • Is this situation constant or intermittent?

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron

  • Are you and all members signed into the right account in the Google Home app? Yes
  • Is the Nest Outdoor Cameras detecting events? Yes it is, and it is sending notifications to 4 out of 7 of the phones, with which 4 phones receiving notifications varying day to day.
  • Did you receive any push or email notifications? The Nest Outdoor Camera has never sent an email notification, but my two indoor Nest Cameras do send emails to both email addresses.
  • Has anything changed in your environment? Not on my side, but the problem began after a recent update to the "Home" app (at my age time goes so fast "recent" could be up to a 3 or 4 months ago).
  • Is the airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on? No
  • Is this situation constant or intermittent? It is constant, with different phones receiving the notifications on different days.

That worked! All seven phones now receive notifiations. What a strange bug, since 2 random phones for each account used to receive notifications I was sure the problem was with server. Many thanks.
