I've been having an issue with my outdoor cams not restarting/reconnecting to Wi-Fi after my home experiences a power outage. I have seen where many other people have been having the same issue. Many times, this happens while I am away and not able to do the "unplug, wait 30 seconds and plug the camera back in" solution. Totally unacceptable for a supposedly "high quality" and very expensive product.
I have discovered a solution that has worked well for me and wanted to share with others. I purchased several of the Wyze brand Wi-Fi controlled power outlets (about $30 for a pair) and plugged them in between the outlets and Nest cam plugs. When the power goes out and the Nest cams don't restart, I open the Wyze app on my phone and turn the power off to the outlets. I wait 30 seconds and turn them back on and within a minute or so the Nest cam connects and comes back online. At least the Wyze brand products work like they're supposed to.
This has worked well for me especially when I'm out of town and can't get home to reset the Nest cams manually. At least I can depend on Wyze which is a competing brand to Nest. If I had it all over to do again, I would just purchase Wyze products to secure my home and definitely not Nest. Hopefully this doesn't get deleted lol.
Good luck
