Pre Event Recording

When walking up to the door, the device detected a person but video clip is a second or two behind and you miss the video of the person.  Say the door is unlocked and person walks in, you do not get a recording of the person.  Can you adjust a video clip recording to include a 3  (x) second pre-event detection start time of the recording?

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, were there any changes to the Wi-Fi network? Has the camera been moved recently? Are there any Activity Zones set up for the camera?
 

Nest cameras determine when something moves based on how much an image changes over a short period of time. So, your camera may not send an alert if the following is true:
 

• The activity is out of your camera’s field of view.
• An object is blocking the camera’s view.
• The camera is very far away from the activity.
• The lighting in the scene is dim or washed out.

You might have to move your Nest Camera, change your Nest Camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity. Hit this link for more information and let us know how it goes.

The camera alerts of the person or motion detection but the video playback of the detected event doesn't include the person how triggered it.  It will show it on occasion but normally shows the clip after the person comes in the door.  Most VMS platforms allow you to adjust a pre Event recording usually 3 to 5 seconds  to include in the video.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. I totally understand that this is a good feature to use with your Nest cameras, but this feature isn't available.
