Problem with displaying nest camera in baby room

Mdmdc
Community Member

Hi,

I have a Nest camera in my baby room connected to Google Home display. Whenever I verbally ask to ‘display baby room camera’ or ‘stream baby room camera’ etc, Google home would first show 2 seconds of the streaming, then jump to another page ‘I have found baby stores near you’

I can not only watch the streaming by tabbing on the display physically. Can anyone suggest a way to resolve this issue? Thank you!

Try renaming your camera with a different name, perhaps using one of Google Nest's labels. When our camera in the back yard was labeled with a custom name "Back Yard", streaming it from our Nest Hub would instead yield search results with nearby businesses with "back yard" in their names. Once I renamed it "Backyard" by selecting one of Google Nest's own "Where" names, we were able to stream it from our Nest Hub. It's weird.

Hi Mdmdc,  I have not run into that.  That is odd but not completely unexpected as Google tries to figure out what you want with the "baby room" portion of your statement.  It seems to think you want to go shopping.  Maybe try this wording instead:  "Hey Google, show me the baby room camera" and see if it fixes the problem.

Hi SteveT1,  I'm not seeing your response in this thread.  Where is it?  Am I missing something?

Hey folks!

Thanks for bringing this issue up! I can see how this could be very inconvenient and annoying. I would suggest that you rename the camera to something else as it was suggested, as that would be the best option. Please let me know if you require further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad.

Hi, just tried ‘hey google, display the camera in baby’s room’. It works and doesn’t take me to the search result. I have also changed the camera name as well.
The funny part is that this problem only happened the past month, and it worked smoothly before this. I guess we will just go for this solution then.

Thank you all!
