Problem with reliable 5GHz connection to several Nest Battery Cams?

I have (4) Nest Battery Cams located under the eaves of the front of my home. I'm constantly having Wi-Fi connectivity problems with several of them, one of which required a factory reset to reconnect to my Wi-Fi network. I'm currently using a Synology RT2600ac Wi-Fi 5 router with (2) Synology MR2200ac mesh points. Basically, a router or mesh point is hardwired on every floor of my home. While this works better than the standalone RT2600ac, I'm still having trouble connecting to these outlying devices using 5GHz. And yes, I've tried different, less crowded channels.

Would upgrading to a Wi-Fi 6 router help with this situation or should I consider connecting the Nest Battery Cams with 2.4 GHz instead? Any help or advice for setting this system up so that it works reliably is much appreciated.

Hello RavenManiac,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’m sorry to hear you’re having Wi-Fi issues with the Nest cameras. Let’s check it out.

Since the connection to the 5 GHz network isn’t stable, I’d suggest connecting the cameras to the 2.4 GHz network. A 2.4 GHz network connection won't necessarily be slower than a 5 GHz connection. 2.4 GHz signals travel farther, so they cover a larger area, and they can travel through solid objects more easily.

Here’s a handy guide to learn more about the recommended Wi-Fi network and router settings for use with Nest products.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Lance
